Kingswood to Box Hill
Stage Two – 8.7 miles / 14 km
National Trust heathland, a famous view and stepping stones
STAGE TWO Overview
In this section, you leave any signs of London’s urban sprawl behind, crossing the M25 and continuing through rolling hills to the lovely Headley Heath and up to the top of Box Hill, with commanding views over Surrey and Sussex to the South Downs.
Initally the route passes through the private Kingswood Estate and out across the busy A217 (take care here). After Walton on the Hill, there is a pedestrian subway under the M25. Then healthland and generally good tracks to the top of Box Hill. There are 275 steps down from here so take your time. It can be muddy at the base of Box Hill and busy near the stepping stones.
