Stage Seven – 10.1 miles / 16.2 km

Up and over the chalky South Downs to the sea

North Mouslecoomb

STAGE SEVEN – Overview

The final stretch and probably the most scenic and varied. After passing through pretty Clayton with its ancient church, the path rises sharply up the South Downs to the Jack and Jill Windmills. Then across the rolling South Downs and some woodland to emerge 10 minutes from the seafront in Kemp Town. From here, it’s a breezy walk along the promenade to finish at Brighton Pier.

Route details

The route starts on a railway path towards Clayton, then it’s then a very steep climb up the South Downs and along open chalky paths towards Brighton. The route descends rapidly to suburban Moulsecoomb. Then it’s steeply up again and over Brighton racecourse, descending via steps to Kemptown and the sea!
