Vineyard, peaceful woodland and a folly with a view

Leith Hill

STAGE 3 OVERVIEW

The route rises up through massive Denbies Vineyard to the top of Ranmore Common, then heads steeply down to Westcott before climbing again slowly through dense woodland. This section feels a long way from London. The route passes by the delightful Leigh Tower, the summit of which is the highest point in South East England, according to the National Trust.

Route details

The route starts uphill from the station and down an alley between houses. This emerges into Denbies Vineyard with clear signposted paths through the estate and up to Ranmore Common. There is a steep decent to Westcott and along the Greensand Way, ascending to tree-lined Wootton Common. There are many paths here but most lead to Leith Hill. Then down steep steps and paths to Ockley.
